The crisis between the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Uba Sani, and the Speaker of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, Yusuf Zailani, has deepened.
There have also been clashes between supporters of the two prominent members of the All Progressives Congress in the state.
While Sani is representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District at the National Assembly, the Speaker is representing Igabi West in the State.
It was gathered that the two lawmakers had been at loggerheads over the political control of Kaduna Central.
Zailani, who represents Igabi West in the House, was allegedly accused of plotting a move to recall the senator.
The development led to a call from the APC chairmen in the seven local government areas that made up Kaduna Central for a sanction against the speaker.
The seven LGAs are Kajuru, Chikun, Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Igabi, Giwa and Birnin Gwari,
But on Saturday, a group, Non-Aligned Democracy Monitor, expressed support for the speaker and kicked against any move to sanction him.
The group also accused the party chairmen of being biased.
In a statement titled, ‘Uba Sani, Zailani rift: Groups raise bias alert against local party officials,’ and signed by its Chairman, Alhaji Dauda Sani Aliyu, NADM questioned the judgment of the chairmen.
The statement read in part, “The ongoing faceoff between the Kaduna State House of Assembly Speaker, Yusuf Zailani and Senator Uba Sani, representing Kaduna Central District, has attracted public attention with good governance monitoring groups raising bias alert against APC chairmen of the seven local government areas that make up Kaduna Central.
“Sensing a slant in the intervention of the chairmen that include those of Kajuru, Chikun, Kaduna South, Kaduna North, Igabi, Giwa and Birnin Gwari, the Non-Aligned Democracy Monitor challenged the local party leaders on indiscretion.
“We are concerned that the local APC chairmen of the seven local government areas of Kaduna Central have caught themselves in political bias involving the slanting and altering of information to make the position of Uba Sani seem more attractive.
“This shameful show of lack of political neutrality or the barefaced violation of political neutrality by the seven local party leaders only goes to confirm accusations against them of insatiable greed for personal gains over the general interest of the party.”
