AMNI and TotalEnergies have announced the final investment decision for the Ima Gas Project, a significant development projected to enhance Nigeria's LNG supply. This project is set to provide about 30% of the feed gas needed for Nigeria LNG’s Train 7, bolstering the nation's gas infrastructure.

In a landmark move for Nigeria's gas sector, AMNI International Petroleum Development Company and TotalEnergies have reached a final investment decision (FID) on the Ima Gas Project, valued at approximately $1.108 billion. This ambitious initiative is poised to play a crucial role in meeting the country's growing energy demands, particularly in light of the increasing capacity of Nigeria LNG's Train 7.
The Ima Gas Project is strategically designed to supply around 30% of the feed gas required for Train 7, which is part of Nigeria LNG's expansion efforts aimed at enhancing its liquefied natural gas production capabilities. This supply is essential for maintaining the operational efficiency of the facility, which is expected to significantly contribute to the country's export earnings.
With this investment, both AMNI and TotalEnergies are not only strengthening their presence in Nigeria's energy landscape but are also affirming their commitment to sustainable energy solutions. The project is anticipated to create numerous jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region, while also reinforcing Nigeria's position as a key player in the global LNG market.
“This project is a testament to our dedication to developing Nigeria’s abundant natural resources while ensuring environmental sustainability,” said a spokesperson for TotalEnergies.
As Nigeria continues to grapple with energy supply challenges, the successful execution of the Ima Gas Project could serve as a model for future investments in the gas sector, ultimately driving the nation's economic development and energy security.
