ASUU Initiates Indefinite Strike in Three Lagos Universities Amidst Unresolved Issues

The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has officially announced an indefinite strike affecting three universities in Lagos. This decision follows a series of unsuccessful negotiations with the Nigerian government, which left the union with no option but to halt academic activities.

On September 10, ASUU issued a final warning indicating that if the government did not engage in meaningful talks, drastic measures would be taken. Unfortunately, the deadline of September 13 passed without any dialogue, prompting the union to take this significant step.

“We have exhausted all avenues for dialogue and negotiation,” a spokesperson for ASUU stated. “This strike is a last resort to press for our demands and ensure that the education system is not neglected.”
