Several delegates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from Benue State sustained injuries on Saturday following a head-on collision involving their bus while they were en route to a party rally in Lafia, Nasarawa State. The accident occurred just a few kilometers from the rally venue, leaving many delegates in need of urgent medical attention.

According to Dan-Morgan Ihomun, the Publicity Secretary of the Austin Agada faction of the APC in Benue State, the incident was serious, but fortunately, no lives were lost. “The accident happened in Lafia and it involved two vehicles. But there was no loss of life. Those who sustained injuries have been rushed to the hospital,” Ihomun confirmed.

The number of injured delegates has not yet been officially reported, but they were evacuated to local hospitals in Lafia for further care. This latest incident is particularly alarming as it follows a similar accident earlier in the year, where three APC delegates tragically lost their lives while traveling to a party event in Lafia.

In March 2026, a bus transporting delegates from Ogbadibo Local Government Area to Lafia was involved in an accident that resulted in fatalities and injuries, highlighting ongoing safety concerns for party members traveling to political events. The recent accident has sparked discussions within the party regarding the need for enhanced safety measures for delegates during political gatherings.
