Born in Akamili, Umudim, Nnewi, to the distinguished businessman Sir Louis Philip Odumegwu Ojukwu and Ogbenyeanu Janet Malize, Ojukwu's life is a testament to the power of service over status. His dedication to medicine led him to specialize in surgery, earning a Master of Surgery and becoming a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.
