CJN Urges Judges to Match Integrity with the Elegance of New Industrial Court Headquarters
The Chief Justice of Nigeria emphasizes the importance of integrity among judges, asserting that a beautiful court building alone cannot ensure justice. He calls for a commitment to upholding ethical standards within the new industrial court's headquarters.

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Olukayode Ariwoola, has called upon judges to uphold the integrity of the judiciary in alignment with the aesthetic appeal of the newly inaugurated industrial court headquarters. During the unveiling ceremony, he stated, “A beautiful building cannot by itself deliver justice. The true measure of this edifice will ultimately be found in what takes place within its walls.”
The new headquarters, which boasts modern architectural designs, symbolizes a significant investment in Nigeria's judicial infrastructure. However, the CJN's emphasis on integrity highlights a crucial point: the efficacy of the judiciary is not merely a reflection of physical structures but rather the ethical conduct of those who operate within them.
Justice Ariwoola's remarks serve as a reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by the Nigerian judiciary, where public confidence is often shaken by allegations of corruption and misconduct. He urged judges to embody the principles of justice and fairness, ensuring that their actions resonate with the grandeur of their surroundings.
“The true measure of this edifice will ultimately be found in what takes place within its walls,” the CJN remarked, reinforcing the need for ethical governance.
As Nigeria continues to strive for a transparent and accountable judicial system, the CJN's address serves as a clarion call for judges to reflect the values of justice and integrity that underpin the legal profession. The new industrial court headquarters stands not only as a physical structure but as a beacon of hope for a more just legal system in Nigeria.
