First Lady Remi Tinubu Appeals for Support in 2027 Presidential Election During South-East Empowerment Visit

OWERRI — The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, made an emotional appeal to voters in the South-East to support the re-election of her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the upcoming 2027 presidential election. Speaking during her official visit to Owerri, Imo State capital, she expressed her hope for a brighter future for Nigeria, stating, "I want to enjoy Nigeria at old age, so I will work for Nigeria, for my old age."

Her visit was part of a broader empowerment initiative aimed at uplifting local women, where she announced that the program, managed through the Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), would ultimately benefit 18,500 women across the nation. "Make una vote for Mr President, we go work for una and Nigeria go better," she emphasized, highlighting her commitment to improving the lives of Nigerian citizens.

During the event, Tinubu revealed that 500 women from each of the five South-East states would receive various essential items, including generators, industrial grinding machines, gas cylinders, and ovens, to bolster their businesses. In a show of solidarity and support, Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, announced additional empowerment resources for 2,000 women in Imo, raising the total number of beneficiaries in the state to 2,500.

In recognition of the governor's contributions, Tinubu pledged an extra N100,000 cash assistance for each beneficiary, further enhancing the impact of the empowerment program. This initiative not only seeks to support women entrepreneurs but also aims to foster a sense of community and collaboration among local leaders and the federal government.
