During their meeting, the Ambassador lauded the tangible benefits arising from Nigeria's ongoing reforms encapsulated in President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda, asserting that these reforms should be sustained well beyond the 2027 horizon.
Ambassador Dunhai noted that the trade volume between Nigeria and China has surged to an impressive $18 billion in the past six months, reflecting a robust partnership that has evolved over recent years. He emphasized the importance of maintaining this momentum, stating, “The confidence of foreign investors in Nigeria is renewed and stronger, and China is keen to capitalize on this opportunity.”
The envoy further highlighted Nigeria's remarkable export growth to China over the last three years, which he attributes to the country's strengthened macroeconomic foundations. He stated, “As we deepen our bilateral relations, we are committed to ensuring that Africa’s resources benefit its people, focusing on high-quality investments and leveraging domestic human capital.”
This visit marks Ambassador Dunhai's first official engagement with the First Lady since he assumed his position two years ago, underscoring the significance of the meeting. He expressed admiration for the Renewed Hope Agenda, acknowledging its potential to transform Nigeria's economic landscape.
As Nigeria seeks to bolster its international partnerships, the reception of Ambassador Dunhai is a testament to the growing ties between Nigeria and China, promising a future of collaborative growth and shared prosperity.
