In a strategic move to bolster its communications framework ahead of the 2027 general elections, President Bola Tinubu's campaign council has welcomed Ima Niboro, a seasoned journalist and former Managing Director of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), as one of its spokespersons. Niboro brings a wealth of experience in presidential communications, having previously served as the spokesperson for former President Goodluck Jonathan, which positions him as a valuable asset to the campaign.
Niboro's appointment is part of an effort to strengthen the campaign's media outreach, which is crucial in today's political landscape dominated by digital communications. The communications team, led by Dele Alake, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, also includes other prominent figures such as Mohammed Idris, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, serving as co-chairman. The inclusion of Niboro is seen as a significant enhancement to the team's capabilities, which already comprises journalists, government media officials, and political strategists.
As the campaign gears up, the importance of a robust communications strategy cannot be overstated. The team aims to effectively engage with voters and navigate the complexities of the political environment in Nigeria. Niboro's extensive background in overseeing news-gathering operations at NAN, coupled with his experience in managing media relations, is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping the narrative around Tinubu’s campaign.
“With the inclusion of seasoned professionals like Niboro, we are set to enhance our engagement and communication strategies as we approach the elections,” said a source from the campaign team.
The growing team of media experts, including Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, and Felix Morka, National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), reflects the campaign's commitment to a comprehensive approach in addressing the challenges of modern electoral politics.
