The Kano State Police Command has announced the successful recovery of a Hyundai car that was stolen from a church in Kano. The vehicle, a golden-colored Hyundai with registration number LAGOS AA 444 BL, was taken on October 25, 2026, while its owner, Uchenna Emmanuel, attended a service at St. Thomas Church located on Airport Road. Emmanuel parked his car within the church premises around 11 am but discovered it was missing upon returning from the service.

In response to the theft, the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, reported that the Command's Special Intervention Squad (SIS) immediately initiated an intelligence-led search. Their efforts led to the vehicle being traced to the premises of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital just a day later, on October 26. Kiyawa stated, “The stolen vehicle was later found parked within the premises of Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital. Our operatives laid an ambush to arrest whoever brought it there, but nobody showed up to claim the vehicle.”

After a thorough investigation, the vehicle was ultimately recovered on October 28 and taken to the SIS office for further examination before being handed back to its rightful owner. Uchenna Emmanuel expressed his gratitude towards the police for their swift action in recovering his vehicle, highlighting the importance of community trust in law enforcement.

Commissioner of Police, Ibraheem Idris, praised the efforts of the SIS, emphasizing that such prompt responses to criminal activities are essential for maintaining public safety and trust in the police force. The recovery of the vehicle serves as a reminder of the police's commitment to combatting vehicle theft and ensuring justice for victims.
