In a significant boost to financial inclusion, President Bola Tinubu revealed that the Nigeria Credit Guarantee Company (NCGC) has successfully disbursed loans totaling N46.95 billion in its inaugural year. This financial initiative has reached 67,512 borrowers across 25 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), marking a pivotal moment in the country's efforts to enhance access to credit.

Notably, approximately one-third of the beneficiaries are accessing formal credit for the first time, showcasing the NCGC's critical role in bridging the gap for underserved individuals and businesses. The program is designed to provide guarantees that enable financial institutions to lend more freely, thereby fostering entrepreneurship and economic growth.

President Tinubu emphasized the importance of this initiative, stating, "The NCGC is a vital partner in our mission to stimulate economic activity and empower Nigerians. By facilitating access to credit, we are nurturing a culture of entrepreneurship and self-reliance, which is essential for our national development."

The NCGC's efforts align with the government's broader strategy to enhance financial access and support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which are crucial for job creation and economic diversification. As the country grapples with various economic challenges, initiatives like this provide a glimmer of hope for many aspiring business owners.
