Nigerian Armed Forces Unveil Online Discount Shop for Personnel and Families

In a significant move to bolster the welfare of its members, the Armed Forces of Nigeria has introduced an online discount shop, designed specifically for serving and retired personnel, veterans, and their families. Launched at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja, this initiative was officiated by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, alongside the Chief of Defence Staff, General Olufemi Oluyede, and other Service Chiefs.

During the launch, Senator Akume emphasized the initiative as a vital intervention to improve the welfare of military personnel and their families. He noted that the platform aims to leverage digital technology to make quality goods more accessible at preferential prices. “This is a practical step towards enhancing the living standards of our Armed Forces members,” he remarked.

General Oluyede, in his address, highlighted the program as a reflection of the Armed Forces’ commitment to a people-centered approach in catering to personnel welfare. He further revealed plans for the development of a comprehensive database, which will facilitate the expansion of participating vendors and the establishment of physical outlets to complement the online platform.

A notable aspect of the launch was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Defence Headquarters and Zinox Group. This partnership aims to utilize digital technology and private-sector participation to reinforce welfare support for those who have served Nigeria, ensuring that quality goods are accessible to beneficiaries.

As the initiative unfolds, it holds the promise of transforming the way military personnel and their families access essential goods, ultimately contributing to their overall well-being.
