Nigeria's Electricity Distribution Companies Report N250.79 Billion Billing in July

Nigeria's electricity distribution companies (DisCos) have reported a total billing of N250.79 billion for the month of July 2026, according to the latest data released by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). This figure reflects a billing efficiency of 75.10% against the backdrop of N333.94 billion worth of energy supplied during the same period. The data underscores the persistent issues plaguing the country's energy sector, particularly in terms of collection rates.

Despite the substantial amount billed, the collection figure stood at N205.53 billion, which indicates that a significant portion of the billed amount remains uncollected. This gap raises concerns about the financial sustainability of the DisCos, as well as the overall health of Nigeria's electricity supply chain. The challenges in collection are attributed to various factors, including customer dissatisfaction, inadequate infrastructure, and a high level of energy theft.
