Veteran Nollywood actress Patience Ozokwo, affectionately known as Mama G, recently opened up about the challenging experiences that shaped her illustrious career in the film industry. In an interview with Femi Babs TV, Ozokwo revealed that there was a time when she resorted to selling puff-puff and preparing chicken to make ends meet while pursuing her dreams of stardom.

Reflecting on her early years, Ozokwo stated, “When I came into the industry, there was a time that I was selling buns and puff-puff. I was frying it. I would prepare chicken, dress it well — anyone you want to buy, I was there.” She recounted how her entrepreneurial spirit allowed her to not only survive but also fund her transport to auditions, highlighting the resilience she cultivated throughout her journey.

Ozokwo emphasized that her path to success was fraught with difficulties, stating, “I really struggled to get to where I am today. It wasn’t flowery; it wasn’t an easy thing.” Her dedication to her craft was matched only by her spiritual commitment, as she shared, “My life is full of spirituality, deep prayer. When others are sleeping, I am praying.” This devotion has undoubtedly played a significant role in her enduring presence in the industry.

In addition to her professional struggles, Ozokwo also discussed the sacrifices she made in her personal life, particularly during her marriage. She expressed that she never pressured her husband to provide a lifestyle comparable to those enjoyed by other women, stating, “Some women, when they get married, they tell their husbands, ‘This one bought a car for his wife, this one bought a house for his wife. What are you not doing?’” Her perspective offers a refreshing take on the dynamics of marriage and success in the entertainment industry.

Patience Ozokwo's story is one of perseverance, spirituality, and self-reliance, serving as an inspiration to many who aspire to follow in her footsteps. As she continues to shine in Nollywood, her journey reminds us that the road to success is often paved with hard work and determination.
