The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the promotion of over 3,800 senior police officers, marking a substantial advancement within Nigeria's law enforcement structure. This decision was made during a plenary meeting held in Abuja, where the PSC reviewed the performance of the officers in promotion examinations and oral interviews.

Among those elevated are two Deputy Inspectors-General of Police (DIGs), ten Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs), and seventeen Commissioners of Police (CPs). The newly promoted DIGs include AIG Olaolu Adegbite, who leads the INTERPOL National Central Bureau in Abuja, and AIG Dankombo F. Morris, head of the Zone 4 Headquarters in Makurdi.

Olaolu Adegbite, a distinguished officer with a BA in Russian Language and an MA in Philology, is recognized for his extensive training and accolades, including membership in the FBI National Academy Associates. Meanwhile, Dankombo F. Morris has a solid background in policing, having previously served as the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, and holds a BA in History.

“These promotions reflect the commitment of the PSC to enhance the operational capacity of the Nigeria Police Force and reward the hard work of officers,” stated the PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu.

The elevation of these officers is expected to bolster the police force’s effectiveness in addressing crime and maintaining public safety, as they bring their diverse expertise and experience to their new roles.
