President Bola Tinubu will officially launch the reconstruction and dualization of the vital 376-kilometer Lambata–Bida–Mokwa–Makera–Kontagora Federal Highway in Niger State this Tuesday. The initiative, part of Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, is expected to significantly improve transport links and bolster agricultural and commercial activities, thereby fostering economic growth in the region.

The highway project is particularly critical for farmers who face challenges in transporting their produce to markets, along with traders and commuters navigating between communities. The anticipated improvements in road infrastructure aim to alleviate these logistical difficulties, ultimately enhancing economic opportunities for all stakeholders involved.

According to a statement from Dr. Abiodun Essiet, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Community Engagement for North-Central Nigeria, the flag-off ceremony will take place at noon in Bida, with notable attendees including the Minister of Works, Senator David Umahi, and Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago. The event underscores the government’s commitment to investing in infrastructure that connects people and enhances economic viability.

“Beyond road construction, the project represents an investment in the economic connections that link farmers to markets, businesses to customers, and communities to wider commercial opportunities,” the statement emphasized.

Furthermore, the reconstruction of this highway is poised to have a lasting impact on Niger State’s agricultural economy by providing better access to markets. Transport operators and local businesses are also likely to benefit from the expected rise in efficiency, making this infrastructure initiative a cornerstone for regional development.
