Senator Abbo Critiques APC Governorship Candidate Ahead of 2027 Elections

Senator Elisha Ishaku Abbo, the Labour Party's candidate for the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State, has made bold assertions regarding the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, labeling him a weak politician lacking significant recognition within the state. During an interview with Arise TV, Abbo expressed his confidence in defeating the APC candidate, pointing to his own established reputation among the electorate.

While acknowledging the personal qualities of his APC rival, whom he referred to as a “very good guy” and “a very gentleman,” Abbo contended that the candidate's limited political visibility would ultimately hinder his chances at the polls. “He is not a good politician, and he is not known by the people. Even in his village, people don’t know him. But I am like Coca-Cola; everybody knows me,” Abbo asserted, emphasizing his own widespread recognition.

Highlighting his appeal, Abbo noted that his popularity, particularly among the youth and economically disadvantaged residents, positions him favorably against his competitors. He argued that the incumbent APC administration faces inherent disadvantages, primarily due to the internal dynamics that led to the selection of their governorship candidate.

“In Adamawa State, my governor was pushed aside. He did not bring the candidate. Other people brought the governorship candidate and imposed him,” Abbo stated, suggesting that this imposition could weaken the ruling party's position ahead of the upcoming elections. He believes that the lack of support from key party figures will resonate negatively with voters.

Furthermore, Abbo claimed that his political influence spans all three senatorial zones of Adamawa, indicating a strong grassroots connection and potential for widespread support. As the political landscape evolves in the lead-up to the 2027 elections, Abbo's assertions highlight the competitive nature of the race and the strategic implications for both major parties in the state.
