Senator Seriake Dickson Affirms Commitment to NDC Amid Political Group Divisions

In a clear declaration of loyalty, Senator Seriake Dickson, the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), has asserted that he does not associate with the Obidient or Kwankwasiyya political factions. During an interview on Arise TV's Prime Time, Dickson emphasized his dedication to the NDC as the party gears up for the upcoming 2027 elections. “I’m not a member of Kwankwasiyya. I’m not a member of Obedient. I am NDC,” he stated, clarifying his stance amidst the growing influence of these support groups.

Dickson acknowledged the distinct identities of the Obidient and Kwankwasiyya groups, recognizing their right to operate independently. However, he reinforced that their leaders, Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso, are the official candidates of the NDC for the next presidential race. “Kwankwasiyya has a right to be on its own under the constitution, and same for the Obedient group. Their principals are our candidates, presidential candidate and running-mate,” he noted, highlighting the importance of unity within the party.

Furthermore, Dickson conveyed that the NDC has successfully resolved its internal issues regarding candidate selection, asserting that the party is now focused on the strategic goal of winning the upcoming election. “There are no internal battles to fight in the NDC. We have decided candidature. The next stage of the battle, strategically, is to win the election,” he remarked, indicating a shift towards a more cohesive campaign effort.

As the political landscape evolves, Dickson urged all NDC supporters and affiliated groups to concentrate on their campaigns, emphasizing outreach to the Nigerian populace rather than engaging in divisive internal conflicts.
