xclusive Black & White Masked Party for Charity
Latiwa Art & Fashion Presents The Exclusive Black & White Masked Party for Charity

The Exclusive Black and White Masked Party is another event being put together by Latiwa Art & Fashion (LAF) to raise funds for supporting their upcoming project and Charity.

The event is fashioned to allow people to have fun and be generous at the same time, LAF has invited the international Nigerian-German DJ Jamie Ige and aerialist / fire dancer Autumn Burnett to help out in the fun department.

Background of LAF’s Charity Projects:

In certain areas of North Central Nigeria, the following types of babies and children have been killed due to “cultural practices” according to Vine Heritage Home, one of the Community Based Organizations (CBO).

  • Twins or multiple births
  • Babies whose mothers passed away
  • Babies/children with Albinism
  • Babies/children whose upper teeth dropped earlier than lower ones
The negative impact of such a series of violence ranges from a reduction in the quality of life and access to heath care within communities. In response to this circumstances, a number of CBOs have been acting in preventing, rescuing and supporting these survivors.

Vine Heritage Orphanage Center, for example has rescued 101 babies/children since its establishment. Bells Eco Initiative, a Non Profit Organization (NPO) partly eradicates basic healthcare challenges for People With Disabilities (PWD)’s by collaborating with the National Healthcare Insurance Scheme (NHIS). However, Bells Eco Initiative faces a shortage of health insurance packages.

In this context, Latiwa Project aims to support the needs of Vine Heritage and Bells Eco Initiative in 2016 to 2017. The principal beneficiaries for this project are, therefore, staff members who engaged in the field of nursery and childcare, teachers and staff of CBOs, girls and boys, women and PWD.

The project will result in:
  1. Enhancing the capacity for nursing babies and children at Vine Heritage Home.
  2. Improving access to healthcare services among people with disabilities.
  3. Creating and maintaining a better hygienic environment in Vine Heritage Home.
  4. Raising awareness of these issues in the general public.

Supporting this event are the Presidency of the Argentine Republic, Embassy of the Republic of Poland, LikeMinds Project, Transcorp Hilton Hotels, Setraco Group, Enigma Art Collective, to mention a few.
