In an attempt to better protect Nigerian citizens and critical infrastructure, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has begun to patrol the Abuja-Kaduna railway with the use of helicopters.
Nigerian Air Force uncovered this in a press release issued on Sunday. Ayodele Famuyiwa, NAF Director of Public Relations and Information, explained that this operation is an extension of the NAF’s surveillance of the Abuja-Kaduna highway, which commenced in August 2016 in response to the ongoing violence in the North West.
The scope of the aerial patrol also includes Abuja metropolis, Kaduna-Birnin Gwari Road, Kaduna-Zaria-Kano Road, Falgore Forest, and Minna. Nigerian Air Force personnel tasked with the aerial patrol will be on the look out for cases of armed robbery, kidnapping, and cattle rustling.
