The remains of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, who served as the governor of Delta State from 2007 to 2015, arrived at Osubi Airport in Okpe Local Government Area yesterday. The reception was led by the current governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, who, alongside his wife Tobore Oborevwori, expressed deep condolences to Uduaghan's family, particularly his widow, Deaconess Roli Uduaghan.

Governor Oborevwori paid tribute to Uduaghan, calling him a mentor and a significant figure in the political landscape of Delta State. He remarked, “He contributed immensely to the development of Delta State, most especially the Asaba International Airport. He was a man of few words. He was very articulate, calm. He has gone, but he can never be forgotten by Deltans.”

Uduaghan's passing was confirmed by his son, Toju, on Monday; he was 71 years old. His influence extended beyond his governorship, having previously served as the state’s commissioner for health and secretary to the state government during the tenure of former Governor James Ibori, which solidified his role in shaping the health policies of the state.

As news of his death spread, tributes began pouring in from across the political spectrum, including notable figures such as Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, and Godwin Obaseki, the former governor of Edo State. Their heartfelt messages reflect the deep respect and admiration held for Uduaghan's leadership and contributions to the region.
